It’s intriguing to see how two passionate fan project developers came together to form Sonic Mania, and in essence, create a Sonic game better than Sega would have done. 

That’s just how Headcannon and PagodaWest Games did it, as this video from Did You Know Gaming explains, and they even got a Sonic remixer to handle the music and an outside artist to work on the intro. In many ways it’s a supercharged fan game, and the fact that Sega allowed this to happen is pretty amazing — now we just pray that they don’t buy them out and run them into the ground.

In less worrying news, Sonic Mania rocks, and this clip showcases where some of its merchandise and new levels came from.
