Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice is somehow out in a couple of months

IGN has the latest trailer for Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice, the very real 3DS game that’s coming in September. Just several months away it looks pretty inline with the last portable iteration, which is to say it’s dull.

I still recall being present for the unveiling of Sonic Boom, and how enthusiastic (not just marketing enthusiastic) they were for this new universe. Nearly two years later they have a successful comic line, toy line, and TV show — but no good games to show for it.

This one doesn’t look like it’ll break the cycle, but at least it hasn’t replaced the core Sonic line, so who knows? Maybe the rumored new project will surprise us.
