It goes without saying that a game that tests your investigative and deduction powers will throw some hard puzzles your way. The Advanced Lock might seem like an impossible task at first. Thankfully, I managed to solve the puzzle with a trial-and-error approach, so I can tell you how you can unlock the door to access the rest of the house.

Enigma of Fear Advanced Lock guide

You’ll come across the lock after you enter the house. Don’t take the stairs, and go straight, and you’ll find the room with this lock. At first, you won’t be able to find a solution. You can try it out at random, but it will waste a lot of your time.

Go back to the first room and take the stairs to the second floor. Once you’re at the top, you’ll find a grandfather clock. Inspect it and use the night vision mode on your flashlight to reveal an assortment of symbols beside each number on the clock face. Minor spoilers ahead!

Our goal here is to find the precise time that the family received a vision. We’ll need to find the hour, the minute, and then the exact second. There are three clues scattered across the second floor, which will reveal these numbers. But if you want to simply skip ahead and open the door, input the code associated with 4:13.11. The outer symbol should be a hexagon, the second symbol should be two concentric circles, and the final symbol should be the upside-down triangle with the circle in it. Once all three of these symbols are input in order, you should be able to solve the Advanced lock in Enigma of Fear.

Now, to actually find these clues, we don’t have to go far. First, examine the crushed alarm clock beside the grandfather clock to find the precise hour the vision occurred: 4:00. This is when the alarm will ring.

Next, we’ll need to get into the music room, which is to the right of the grandfather clock and locked. To get inside, we’ll need to go to the room that’s left of the grandfather clock. Approach the wall that this room shares with the music room and hit it with a crowbar. This will reveal a hole that you can send Lupi, your dog, through. Press Tab to switch perspectives and then enter the hole.
Once you’re in the next room, use Lupi to approach the locked door and interact with it to open it. Then, switch back over to your main character to open the music room. Once inside, you’ll find a series of vinyl records scattered around. The one that matters is ‘Memoria Timoris’, which is thirteen minutes long.

Finally, we’ll need to find the precise second the vision occurred and the final symbol for the lock. To do this, head to Yuri’s room, which is near the end of the hall, opposite the music room. When you enter, examine the castle figure on the nightstand beside the door. Just beneath the castle, on its wood block, is a barely visible panel you can press to open. Once you do, you’ll find a secret compartment containing a stopwatch that reveals the precise second: 11.

With all this information in hand, return to the Advanced Lock on the first floor and input the symbol. Now, descend into the depths of the Starch manor…
