What’s your longest time spent playing one game straight? Mine is…well, the length of the longest JRPG that I’ve reviewed for the site. I marathon those because they’re all 80+ hours long. Maybe there’s a world record for the longest total time spent reviewing nerdy games. I should check.
PopCap Games are going for a live Guinness World Record attempt for the Longest Videogames Marathon Playing a Card Game later this month, and it’s all for charity. The game is Solitaire Blitz, and the potential record breakers are regular players Kathleen Henkel and Laura Rich. On June 26, in New York and London respectively, they’ll play the game for 30 consecutive hours to establish this record, with PopCap donating $167 per hour of play to charity: water, a non-profit clean water cause we’ve contributed to in the past.
On top of the $10,000 they’ll raise for playing for the 30 hours, PopCap also has a custom pledge plan where fans can add additional contributions. On the Solitaire Blitz Facebook page you can do your part by pledging anywhere from $0.10 an hour played.
Have you tried Solitaire Blitz? It’s card-clicking crack.
