Hey, sissypants! If you had one more wrinkle, you’d be a prune! You’re so dumb you stole cookies from a free cookie stand! You smell like a can of fish left in a hot car for a month!

OK, so I’m not so great at berating people in real life but I did an adequate job of it back in 2000 with free, web multiplayer game SiSSYFiGHT 2000. SF2k lived a happy life until the servers keeping it up were pulled in 2009, but now the creators are trying to bring it back along with some new additions like additional art and social features.

This project is coming to fruition through a partnership with Venus Patrol, which will help host the game’s servers. The rerelease will be free and open source.

I adore the game’s art style and mechanics, that pit unruly kids against each in verbal insult battles, but I wish the creators remade the entire game instead of rewrite the code. The goal here is one of preservation, for better or worse.
