No more flying bath tubs daddy
Yesterday, I got an early Steam code for a game called Shower With Your Dad Simulator 2015. I instantly took Mad Max and Metal Gear Solid V, threw them out the window and thought no more of them. Showering with my dad was clearly what I needed to spend my day doing as a gamer.
On the surface, Shower With Your Dad Simulator 2015 is a fairly simple video game. You play one of a trio of small children at a set of public showers. These could be at a gym, a swimming pool or somewhere else entierly. You are maybe two or three years old and you have to carefully find and hug your naked dad in the shower.
Hug the wrong naked dad, it’s all over.
These game modes increase in difficulty as you progress through the game. Straight razors remove everybody’s hair, meaning you have to judge on features like eye colour who is your father. Spots of water on the floor send you sliding across the room without any control, ready to crash into someone else’s dad. Wet floor signs slow down your progression across the room.
So, of the game’s six modes, the three unlocked from the start are all fairly pedestrian. Where the games gets a little more interesting is when you do well enough to unlock one of the other locked modes.
Without warning I was flying a cyber bathtub through the matrix, collecting holo dads, and filling up a glitching energy bar. Next I was flying a magical bathtub through the clouds, shooting down other fathers to collect 69 of my naked dad. Then dad was the president maybe? I don’t entirely know what started to happen.
What’s really interesting is that, while these game modes initially feel like they may just exist to be silly jokes, they actually introduce interesting new gameplay mechanics which all function well and feature their own degrees of challenge.
Oh, and there’s a bunch of terrible cheesy dad jokes thrown in for good mix.
Shower With Your Dad Simulator 2015 is due out on Steam in “the next few days”
