As Sea of Thieves turns one year old today, Rare has shown off a huge update planned for the shared-world pirate adventure game. It might just be time to check back in. On April 30, we’re getting the long-teased PvP mode The Arena, a batch of “story-rich” quests called Tall Tales, and the ability to fish.

Along with those new sights, the Anniversary update will also bring more detailed combat destruction (you can topple a rival ship’s mast) and a harpoon (perfect for fending off the megalodon). There are a handful of other hints as well which we’ll learn more about leading up to launch.

Rare will go more in-depth with streams focused on The Arena (April 10), The Hunter’s Call (April 16), and Tall Tales: Shores of Gold (April 23), all of which will air at 9:00am Pacific. There’s also a handful of in-game celebration goodies redeemable right now in Sea of Thieves for active players.

As much as I’ve moved on from the game in recent months, I’m still curious to see what all the Anniversary update entails. Out of all the new features, the story quests sound the most appealing.
