Wasteland 2 is poised to ship at the end of August 2014, and you can play it right now via the Wasteland 2 Steam Early Access beta. Well, you can play the entire Arizona area of the game. That’s still playing, kind of. Right? Sounds good enough for me.

inXile Entertainment’s projected launch window means there isn’t too much longer to wait before you can get your hands on the sequel to the predecessor to the Fallout series, and that’s great news. Because I’ve been waiting for something to really scratch that Fallout itch, and nothing’s been hitting the spot thus far.

Wasteland 2 is a turn-based RPG that follows an elite squad of desert Rangers who trek across a post-apocalyptic wasteland of a fallen America to come to the aid of the remaining human survivors of a world wracked with decay and radioactivity. A projected 50+ hour game with a word count “greater than the Lord of the Rings novels” sounds like something I want to get my hands on, so I’m tempted to see if the game, in Early Access form, lives up to the expectations set by the original Wasteland.
