Resident Evil’s ‘Jill Sandwich’ is real, thanks to this mod

With extra cheese, no doubt.

Over the years, the Resident Evil series has become famous for more than its horror elements. From Chris Redfield punching a boulder to the cheesy voice acting in the original games, these moments are iconic in their own right. But the one that older fans will know and love is the infamous “Jill sandwich” line.

Now, that has pretty much become a reality, thanks to user tombraidermods. Essentially, their mod allows you to play the original Resident Evil game as Jill, only now she’s decked out to look like a giant sandwich, thus fulfilling Barry’s prophecy.

It doesn’t get much Jill-Sandwich-ier than this. Nothing else seems to change about the game, other than putting the STARS agent in between two slices of bread.

What? No lettuce?

Maybe this needs a little bit of explanation for those who don’t get the reference. See, in the first installment of Resident Evil, Jill Valentine is almost crushed by a slow-falling ceiling. However, she’s saved at the last second by her colleague Barry Burton.

Upon rescuing her from what would almost certainly be a horrifying death, Barry flippantly says that she almost became a “Jill sandwich.” Much mirth is had by both the zombie-shooting agents.

Okay, maybe you had to be there. The point is, this mod turns that one, classic line into something literal. It’s hard to say whether being wedged between two large slices of white makes taking on the hordes of undead cumbersome, but at least it gives the zombies something to much on that isn’t Jill’s brains.
