Resident Evil fans have been waiting for Resident Evil 4 Remake‘s VR mode, and at this year’s Tokyo Game Show, we saw a bit more of what’s in store. The free VR mode, which will be released on PS VR2, will allow you to experience Leon Kennedy’s tale in the most immersive way possible.
As we learned from the latest trailer, the mode will feature realistic gunplay. You can experience this in Resident Evil Village‘s VR mode where guns need to be physically reloaded and cocked back before you can fire, raising the tension in the game’s most frightening moments. The ability to throw knives is also back.
Care has been taken to ensure a smooth VR experience. Hence you’ll be able to break crates holding loot with a single button press. You’ll also get to enjoy immersive 3D audio, allowing you to sense which direction foes are coming at you from.
Resident Evil 4 VR mode questions remain
Though we’ve learned a lot about the upcoming VR mode, there is still a lot that is left unanswered. There’s been no word yet on whether the DLC will support VR but if it’s anything like Resident Evil Village, it’ll be an exclusively main story feature.
There’s also no certainty of whether you’ll be able to transfer your progress from the regular mode to the VR mode. Village did not have this feature which doesn’t give much hope that we’ll get it this time around.
You can expect the game in Winter this year. Until then there’s the action-packed Separate Ways DLC to indulge in.
