After a two-month delay, Remnant 2 is finally ready to launch its third and final DLC, titled The Dark Horizon. That’s not all, though! Here’s everything new coming with the new update on September 24, whether you own the DLC or not.
The Dark Horizons of N’Erud
The Dark Horizon DLC features a new storyline set in the desolate alien landscapes of N’Erud. Explore new levels and dungeons using a new glider traversal system. We only got a brief look at the new locations in the trailer, but it looks like it has a more vertical layout that would make gliding useful.
Of course, we can also expect a whole host of new gear like weapons, rings, amulets, and armor. The N’Erud enemies have some of the weirdest alien designs, so I’m looking forward to facing off against new bosses and enemies as well.
New archetype: The Warden
With a new DLC comes a new class: the Warden. The Warden has a small drone companion that can fight alongside them, or provide more defensive utility through shielding and healing. More information on the Warden class will be forthcoming next week.
The Dark Horizon is a paid DLC that will be available for $9.99 on its own. If you bought the Ultimate edition of Remnant 2, then you already own The Dark Horizon.
Free Boss Rush mode
Aside from the paid DLC, the update will include a free game mode for all players. The Boss Rush mode challenges players to face off against a series of bosses, either solo or in a co-op squad. There are three difficulty levels: Triple Threat (three bosses), Trial by Fire (seven bosses), and The Gauntlet (nineteen bosses). You’ll have to fight through enemies and Aberrations to get to the bosses, but you can enjoy temporary buffs that will help your run.
You’ll be able to access the Boss Rush mode via the World Stone in Ward 13. Boss Rush becomes available on September 24 for all players as a free update – no DLC purchase required! The trailer showcases some DLC-exclusive bosses, so it’s possible that players who don’t own the DLC will be able to enjoy the DLC boss fights through this mode.
New Fragment system: Prisms
If you, like me, have maxed out all of your Fragment levels, you know the disappointment of picking up a new Fragment and watching it turn into Relic Dust. Luckily, the new update introduces a change to the Fragment system. Details are sparse, but it sounds like Fragments will be rebalanced and can be leveled up to grant additional bonuses.
Remnant 2 is one of the best looter-shooters out right now. If you haven’t tried it yet, and you like some souls-like 3rd-person shooting, now is the best time to get in on the action. The Dark Horizon becomes available on September 24, so there’s two weeks to catch up in Remnant 2. The previous two DLCs, The Awakened King and The Forgotten Kingdom, did not disappoint, so The Dark Horizon promises to be a blast.
