Pick your edition and relive a classic
You can pre-order your physical edition of Broken Sword – Shadow of the Templars: Reforged on the Red Art Games Store. The Standard Edition costs €39.99 and includes a copy of the game and a booklet, like the one you’d have gotten when the title was initially released in 1996.
The Deluxe Edition packs in everything from the Standard Edition with an additional card sleeve for the game, a keyring, the game’s soundtrack on CD, and a bonus sticker. At the time of writing, the Deluxe Edition is the same price as the Standard Edition, which seems like a bargain. There’s also a Special Edition available, which is exclusive to VGP, that only has the keyring for those who don’t want everything else.
There are only 500 copies of each of the Special and Deluxe Editions of Broken Sword – Shadow of the Templars: Reforged, so it’s better to get your pre-orders in sooner rather than later.
Broken Sword – Shadow of the Templars: Reforged is a gorgeous remaster of the original 1996 point-and-click adventure that follows protagonists George Stobbart and journalist Nico Collard on a journey that immerses them in ancient conspiracies. The game is considered one of the genre’s greats and even received a Director’s Cut for the Nintendo DS and Wii in 2009, which included new content and built upon the original story with new chapters interwoven with what was already there.
Some of the enhancements with this remastered version of the game include the ability to toggle between the new version and the classic 1996 visuals, a more challenging ‘Traditional Mode’ and a hint-filled ‘Story Mode’ for modern audiences, as well as enhanced audio. After its initial release, the game was praised by critics for its fantastic gameplay and phenomenal voice acting — which should sound even better in this version.
