The bots are finally here
Last week, the Twitter account for Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation 2 posted a menacing image of Psyco Gundam with the caption “Coming Soon…” Given that the machine is twice the height of the playable cast, many players quickly deduced that it would be the focus of a new mode for the game. Flash forward to a livestream this morning, and their predictions were correct.
You can catch the new mode in action at the 48:27 mark.
To everyone’s surprise however, the developers also had two more modes to reveal. The first was a survival mode, which is a fairly standard ‘survive X waves of enemies.’ The other was a Trial mode, which assigns specific mobile suits for players to use, even if they do not own them. All three of these modes can be played solo or with up to two other people, with AI allies filling in the gaps. Players will also be granted rewards for completing the fights within specific time frames.
Battle Operation 2 will soon be hosting a Spring Festival campaign with all kinds of benefits. For the next four weeks, players will receive 10 free pulls each week alongside special missions to unlock the new Guntank II. Furthermore, the famous Zeta Gundam is going to be added to the game this week. Needless to say, there’s plenty to look forward to for newcomers and veterans.
This is very good news for the game. The lack of PvE options has always been a notable absence for numerous reasons. To finally have not just one option, but several – along with the ability to play alone – is a big benefit. Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation 2 feels more complete as a result, and now players don’t have to play against others if they don’t feel up to it. Hopefully they continue to build on these modes, as there’s plenty of bosses I’d love to see come to this game.
