Kindles are fantastic e-readers that allow you to achieve several goals within the same small piece of technology. I started using an ancient one many years ago and still love it, but they’ve come a long way since the first one was released in 2007.
With a Kindle, any Kindle, you can have hundreds, maybe even thousands of books in a single sleek device. It means you no longer need to cart kilograms of books with you on holiday or have that 1,000-page novel taking up space in your bag during your commute. They’re also pretty eco-friendly, considering how long they can last you. Finally, but most importantly in my book, a Kindle is a great way to read a book with the right lighting so it doesn’t mess up your sleeping pattern. But they’re not exactly cheap, which is why it pays to get them when they’re on sale, as they are every Amazon Prime Day.

Below, I’ve listed the best Amazon Prime Day Kindle deals I could find. Each one has a decent discount on one of Amazon’s massive range of Kindles. I can’t tell you which one is right for you, but I will tell you that even if you purchase a classic Kindle with a glare-free screen, you’ll be making an investment that’ll last you decades because you really don’t need to upgrade these devices once you’ve found one you love to hold and read on.

Amazon Fire Tablets are perfect for kids because they’re e-readers as well as entertainment centers. If you want to restrict the use of the tablet to just reading ebooks, you can do so with parental controls. Even if not, this is a brilliant first tablet for kids who are just starting to get to grips with them in school before they enter the world of larger and more advanced computers.

The standard Amazon Kindle is all you need to store thousands of books in one place. I have a much more basic version than this, but it’s fabulous. The battery life on this device will go for 6 weeks, depending on how much you use it, so you can probably take it on a trip without ever needing to recharge.

The main appeal of a Kindle Paperwhite is that it’s designed to look like real paper. Reading a book on one of these is like reading a real book, with an adjustable warm light that’s built to help maintain your natural circadian rhythm and not bombard you with blue light at night. Which can keep you up longer.
It’s got a glare-free screen and a battery that’ll last you for 10 weeks if you play your cards right. It’s much better for reading during the day, so if you’re hiking or camping and getting a break here and there, you can work through an entire book while still getting enough sleep at night and not feeling as though your eyes are being burned.
You can get a premium cover and adaptor with the essentials kit, which is also on sale for Prime Day. I can’t recommend a cover enough because your Kindle will almost definitely get scratched if you don’t have one. For me, reading in one position gets super uncomfortable quite quickly because I’ve got a bad back.
