Running through tabletop role-playing games can be fun, but it can also be a huge amount of work for an average dungeon master. Not only does the role require crafting scenarios and stories, more industrious DMs physically build dungeon models for heroes to quest through. Popup Dungeon takes a lot of that burden away through the magic of technology, while still maintaining a slick tabletop look and feel.

One of the most interesting aspects of Popup Dungeon is the item crafting capability. Players can basically build anything within the constraints of the system, adding range, damage, elemental effects, area of effect, fiction source, and more. The game then analyzes the item’s usefulness and scales enemies accordingly.

Popup Dungeon recently launched a Kickstarter campaign, with an initial funding goal of $80,000.
