If you’re just starting out in Pokémon Go, it’s best to begin with the lower-tier Raids if they are available. It is also possible to encounter Shiny variants, but their chances of spawning are fairly low.

You’ll typically need a team to last longer in the Raids, especially for the more formidable fights. On the other hand, trainers do have the choice to try out solo in the One to Three Star ranks. But, once you get to higher tiers, such as Five Stars and Mega, you should opt in for a group.

Some Raid Pokémon are exclusive to specific regions, especially when special events are going on. Thus, the battles for these particular creatures depend on your current location. Remote Raid Passes are available for those who want to access these unique types anywhere in the world.

In addition to Raids, you can look forward to a few other events that will bring out even more Pokémon in the wilds:

Niantic has already given us the inside scoop on most events, starting with Adventure Week. You’ll get the chance to capture various Pokémon, such as Diglett, Omanyte, Kabuto, and many more. There are also a few event bonuses, including double XP for spun PokéStops and hatching eggs.

Adventure Week will continue on with the Taken Over celebration. With this event, Shadow creatures are the star of the star, featuring a Special Research story for Shadow Cresselia. You’ll also notice a change to the Team Go Rocket leader’s lineup, specifically for Sierra, Cliff, and Arlo. That means trainers may have to battle against Pokémon like Shadow Timburr, Shadow Tirtouga, and Shadow Archen.

Other events, like the August Community Day, are much more time-restrictive, so you will need to tune in before the day concludes. You can also look forward to bonuses while it’s active, from an increased Stardust intake to longer Lure Module durations.
