Astebreed, Croixleur Sigma, and more coming west in 2015
Good news for fans of Japanese indie games: Playism is bringing its wares to consoles.
We’ve known this was happening for a while, but now it’s official. The company has announced plans to localize a number of Japanese indie games for North American and European audiences later this year.
Those include:
- Astebreed (PS4)
- TorqueL (PS4, Vita)
- Croixleur Sigma (PS4, Vita)
- Prismatic Solid (PS4)
Playism’s website also indicates shooter Revolver 360 Re:Actor and brawler Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae are also coming to PlayStation 4 in the near future. However, we might not see those before the end of 2015.
A number of these games have already been released via the Japanese PlayStation Store, including my favorites of the lot, Astebreed and Croixleur Sigma. I recently downloaded both titles and was impressed by their transition to the big screen. Edelweiss’ perspective-shifting shoot-’em-up looks and handles just as fantastic as I remember, but Croixleur Sigma has really made leaps and bounds on PlayStation 4.
Souvenir Circ. has obviously put a lot of effort into the latest version of its hack-and-slash, adding a ton of new content and a noticeable graphical overhaul to the game, even in comparison to last year’s update.
While I’m not as familiar with the other games, I had an opportunity to check out Revolver 360 Re:Actor at Playism’s PAX East booth last month, and walked away impressed. I’ve also dabbled with Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae, which I recall looking quite nice, but being a tad austere in terms of gameplay.
Overall, though, it’s a nice group of games and definitely something to get excited about.
