Two new characters added to the roster
[Update: It’s unclear as to whether this is a full blown sequel or just a big update, but the Japanese used to describe it is “zokuhen,” a word reserved for sequels and continuations. As of this writing only two new characters have been revealed, but it’s possible and highly likely that more will be added in the coming months. Menus have also undergone major changes, so I’m more inclined to call this an actual sequel.]

This came completely out of nowhere. In fact, it’s so out of left field that the Japanese fighting game players on my Twitter timeline didn’t actually believe the news. Persona 4: Arena is receiving an update/sequel, and its official location test begins today in Japan. This new version of the game adds Yukari and Junpei from Persona 3 as playable characters, and according to reports, characters’ also have varying numbers of Persona cards.
I’m still struggling to wrap my head around the suddenness of this news, but I’m psyched as hell. Persona 4: Arena was my go to fighting game last year, and a sizable update means it’ll stay relevant for a long time coming. I included some off-screen photos from the Famitsu article below for your viewing pleasure.
