PC gamers are Battlefield Bad Company 2’s biggest fans

My my, this is a rather pleasant surprise. At a time when PC gamers are perceived to be more neglected than ever, it seems that one PC game (and thus its publisher/developer) has felt the love back. That game is Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

DICE has reported that the PC population playing Bad Company 2 had exceeded the audiences for Battlefield 2 (still quite active after five years) and that of any of the other individual platforms (though still smaller than the PS3/Xbox 360 populations combined).

Keep in mind that this figure comes from “concurrent users” (the number of players online at any given time), so it doesn’t necessarily reflect folks still playing the campaign or the total platform sales, which could still rise given that the game hasn’t been out very long.

See? People can profit when they put some real effort into making a proper port, one that takes advantage of the platform’s strengths.

Now, if EA could fix some of the connection problems we’ve been having over the last couple of days, and maybe speed up the server browser, that’d be great too. I really want to get back to playing medic, making suicidal dashes towards the nearest dead person, defib paddles in hand. Oh, and if they could find a way to remind Recon players to quit playing Vasily in the treeline and take the control points, that’d be great too. Or start spotting. Fer chrissakes, spot!
