When I think about the Wild West in terms of gaming, I think of Red Dead, and that one TimeSplitters 2 map with the tiny ledge that you could sit on to hide from the burning monkeys. Paradox Interactive, who just announced its role as publisher of Fatshark’s Lead and Gold, would probably rather I think of their game.
The team-based shooter continues to remind us all of Team Fortress 2, which is a plus, I guess. While the intended platforms are still not being talked about per se (right now it’s simply “consoles”), it’ll likely be an Xbox LIVE Arcade/PlayStation Network type of thing.
If it’s able to capture the same feeling as Battlefield 1943 did, it could be fun for a while. There’s plenty of room left for online-centric shooters in the digital download console space, so long as they’re actually enjoyable to play.
We’ll find out for sure in Q1 of next year.
