Finally, a reason to own the Nintendo DS.
After much hinting and speculation, Microsoft has announced that they will be bringing Viva Piñata to the Nintendo DS. Quietly announced yesterday at San Diego Comic-Con 2007, the game will stick with the formula of the original Xbox 360 title, while adding a new top-down perspective.
Along with the children’s show, the Games for Windows port, and Viva Piñata Party Animals, it almost seems like Viva Piñata might be a viable, money-making franchise for Microsoft. Now all they need is, you know … sales. Given the demographic of Nintendo DS players versus Microsoft’s console, it’s likely Viva Piñata DS will see reasonable success. Hell — even if only a third of Nintendo DS owners worldwide pick up the title, that’ll be more units than they moved on the Xbox 360.
