Despite the manga’s popularity, fan reactions to the ending of Oshi no Ko have been largely mixed, with many readers expressing disappointment. Some felt the final chapter left too many unresolved plot points, like its supernatural aspect. Fans also shared disappointment that certain character arcs didn’t receive the closure they hoped for, especially with the ongoing ship war between Aqua X Akane and Aqua X Kana fans.

However, not everyone is dismayed by the ending. Many user comments on the manga’s final chapter in MANGA Plus expressed gratitude for the duo’s hard work, while others explicitly aired their support for the conclusion.

About the Oshi no Ko franchise

Oshi no Ko quickly gained popularity for its unique storyline, blending themes of the entertainment industry, fame, and reincarnation. The plot centers on a doctor named Goro and his terminally ill patient Sarina, as both of them are obsessed with an idol named Ai Hoshino. When Ai got unexpectedly pregnant, she consulted the far-flung hospital where Goro was working. However, Goro met an unfortunate end before Ai gave birth. In yet another twist of fate, Ai’s twin children turn out to be reincarnations of Goro and Sarina.

The manga was nominated for various awards on multiple occasions and won the Next Manga Award in the print category in 2021. It has also received a two-season anime adaptation, with the third season confirmed to be in production.

The final chapter can be read for free on MANGA Plus.
