Procure Palutena
We haven’t found ourselves in a position to write many of these posts lately. That’s because amiibo, on the whole, are much more widely available than they were in February 2015. I went into a Best Buy the other day and there were nine Little Macs. To anyone else, it must’ve looked perfectly ordinary; I was beside myself thinking about the lengths I went to find one only a year ago.
Despite the fact that amiibo are much easier to find these days, there are still a few that are elusive. King Dedede, Lucina, Robin, and Palutena are probably the toughest to get a hold of. Some of that might change soon.
Palutena’s CPSIA was recently updated. CPSIAs are the documents Nintendo releases to certify that a product has been manufactured and tested. Traditionally, this indicates that an amiibo will get a restock sometime in the near future.
When Palutena released in July 2015, she was an Amazon exclusive. After her initial run (the figure sold out the same day), she has been virtually impossible to get except through the second-hand market. If/when this restock happens, don’t be surprised if it’s no longer bound to Amazon. Past restocks have shifted exclusives so that they’re available at all retailers.
Of the four rare amiibo listed above, Palutena’s not the only one in line for a restock. Two weeks ago, Lucina’s CPSIA was also updated, obviously signaling that she might be back on shelves soon. The amiibo drought has long been over, but it seems as if even the driest crops are getting watered now.
