Setting off on another odyssey
The newest Oddworld game launched just earlier this year, and today, developer Oddworld Inhabitants announced it’s getting a new edition. Oddworld: Soulstorm Enhanced Edition will launch at the end of November with updates and improvements on April’s original Soulstorm.
Oddworld: Soulstorm Enhanced Edition will be coming to PC via Epic Games Store and PlayStation 4 and PS5. It will also bring the game to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. It will run $39.99 for the digital version, and there’s no mention of an upgrade for owners who already have Soulstorm.
The Oddworld: Soulstorm: Enhanced Edition comes with “improved gameplay mechanics and motion code,” as well as previously released updates for Soulstorm. According to a press release sent out today, there will also be new content in the Enhanced Edition as well.
Oddworld: Soulstorm launched in April earlier this year. It garnered some solid acclaim, and as Chris wrote at the time, there are cobwebs that could get shaken out. That said, it’s also really the only game of its kind around. Oddworld‘s mix of platformer and puzzle, alongside its unique aesthetic, really are a vibe all their own.
As for the Enhanced Edition, it seems like a good thing for Xbox players who have been waiting to jump into this strange world. No word on an official date yet, but it is currently expected to arrive sometime near the end of November.
