[Update: Ocarina of Time 3D released 27 days ago. The sales figures below are representative of the first 11 days of sales. Sorry for the error. -Ed]
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D was released 11 days ago, to the joy and delight of many fans both old and new. So many people have grown to love the citizens of Hyrule that it has sold over 283,000 copies, making it the second largest seller of the month on an individual platform in the United States. This news continues the trend of Zelda dominating all other games since it’s release.
What amazes me about this is not that a 3DS game has sold so well, but that Ocarina of Time is a remake. The fact that a revamped Nintendo 64 game is still this popular after 13 years is incredible. Nintendo has not been shy about promoting the game or rewarding those who buy it either. Overall they have done an incredible job of keeping Zelda alive, and I don’t imagine there will be a decline in Ocarina of Time sales either, considering the (lack of) other games available for the 3DS at the moment.
