“The development team wants to make sure the game experience meets the high expectations of fans and the additional time will help them achieve this goal” is all that is said on Ubisoft’s blog announcing that the highly-anticipated South Park: The Fractured But Whole will now release in Q1 2017.

The previous game, South Park: The Stick of Truth, was delayed multiple times but in the end turned out to be a fantastic game. My personal 2014 game of the year, in fact.

With delays coming out the wazoo lately, I find myself saying this a lot, but I don’t mind waiting a little more to ensure we get a quality game that works on day one. That said, I do worry about the new game even though I’m very excited for it. Obsidian is not working on this one, and I worry it will not have enough new things. A lot of the charm of the first game was exploring the mapped-out town of South Park and meeting all the characters. Will it be fun to explore the same city again? To meet everyone, again?
