No console S.T.A.L.K.E.R. until Call of Pripyat releases

Don’t expect S.T.A.L.K.E.R. to grace consoles before S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Call of Pripyat releases. In a recent conversation with fan site Stalker-Portal, GSC Game World PR boss Oleg Yarovsky made it clear — in his native language — that the PC sequel will hit first. “We think that whatever port of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. for Xbox 360 won’t come out before the full release of the game’s sequel [Call of Pripyat],” he said. “At the moment, all are busy with preparing the PC version of the game. What comes after — we’ll see.”

In addition to developing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. for the Xbox 360, GSC Game World has plans to bring its title to a few odd and underpowered platforms, namely the Wii and PSP.

“We have become a developer not only for the Xbox 360, but also for the PlayStation 3 and the Nintendo Wii,” Yarovsky revealed. “We’ve been also developing a prototype for the PSP, but currently there’s not enough manpower to make our ambitions come true.”

We’re going to go out on a limb here and guess there isn’t much of a market for a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. port on the Wii, but consumers have demanded crazier things before. Remember Tickle Me Elmo? Yeah, that totally happened.

Call of Pripyat is slated to release in October.
