God of War holds fast in the premier spot
Nintendo’s cardboard creativity project, Labo, launched this week and had a pretty good opening run. The Toy-Con Variety Kit landed straight in at the number three spot of the UK charts, while the Robot Kit debuted at number twenty. It wasn’t enough to dethrone Sony’s mighty God of War, however, which ain’t going anywhere anytime soon.
At first glance, Labo has been successful, but not a smash, with news outlets reporting only around 30% of its shipped units sold in its native Japan. However this is a marathon, not a sprint, as Labo as a concept is both an expensive product and a long-haul idea, rather than a new release that needs to go platinum in week one, lest its gets abandoned by the publisher.
Elsewhere in the charts, murder-fest Far Cry 5 held on to its number two position, while Yakuza 6: The Song of Life peaked hard, going from number three to number thirty-nine in one week. The Switch edition of South Park: The Fractured But Whole debuted just inside the Top Twenty at number nineteen.
