Miiverse is a wacky place full of strange people. I love it. But I don’t know that I’ll ever fully understand what is and isn’t considered inappropriate in the eyes of moderators and users who seem to arbitrarily report posts. “Spoilers,” for instance. I tend to do far more looking than talking.

Nintendo is updating the way it handles restrictions and bans on Miiverse. Under the old system, punished violators could simply create a new Nintendo Network ID and continue on their merry way.

Not anymore. “To prevent this in the future, we have decided to implement a new system in which the restriction applies to all accounts that use the same Wii U console or Nintendo 3DS system. This will also apply to accounts created after the restriction has been issued.”

Restriction periods vary, so you’re not screwed if you slip up. Still, reactions to the policy are mixed. Some people who share a console with their family aren’t thrilled. Also, hahaha, “#savemiiverse.”
