Not since Spelunky have I been so excited for a game featuring a pug.

The Night of the Rabbit is Daedelic’s (Deponia series, Harvey’s New Eyes) latest adventure epic and a welcome return to comedic fantasy after the underwhelming A New Beginning. The title comes to PC/Mac on May 28; no digital stores are announced but Daedelic titles usually make it to Steam, GOG, and GamersGate (among others).

The adventure follows a 12-year-old boy who finds himself on a quest to becoming a wizard, after a rabbit pulls him into a magical realm filled with talking animals and magic. So, it’s kind of like Simon the Sorcerer meets Alice in Wonderland. Neat. The setup is a bit too innocuous for my taste, but knowing Daedelic, I have hope the game will be smarter and darker than that description suggests. Regardless, it’s a gorgeous looking game and one of the few titles that adventure fans can look forward to this spring.

Then in the fall, we’ll have the final Deponia release: Goodbye Deponia.
