A new weapon has turned up in Nintendo’s multiplayer shooter, Splatoon 2, added to celebrate Kakizome, a Japanese tradition based on writing calligraphy at the start of the new year.

The Octobrush Nouveau has been released for January 2, typically the day when Kakizome celebrations take place. The new tool is a variant on the Octobrush from the original Splatoon (which was also released in alignment with the Kakizome). This new variant comes equipped with Beakon sub and Tenta Missiles Special.

The Octobrush Nouveau is live now in North America, with Japan and Europe following later today.
