Social media are hard to use, aren’t they? Earlier this morning, @gamedigital — the Twitter account for UK retailer GAME — tweeted that “This morning we’re at an EA presentation, where we hope to see some pretty cool games! Don’t know what we can say yet but stay tuned!”
It turns out they didn’t know what they could say as a few hours later whoever is (or was) in charge of the account tweeted, “EA presentation was great, had mentions of a new Medal of Honour and Need for Speed 13! EA have an exciting year ahead.” The tweet was promptly removed after people caught wind of it, but obviously too late.
While a new Medal of Honor was already teased by Battlefield 3‘s online pass cards and a new Need for Speed surprises absolutely no-one, they were never officially announced for 2012. Technically, the tweet doesn’t necessarily say these games are actually part of EA’s “exciting year ahead,” but Twitter isn’t really a medium where you generally structure short messages out of two unrelated sentences.
Since EA will need something other than Battlefield 3 to compete with the annual Call of Duty release this year, expect the publisher to officially announce something after they are done eating roasted social media intern.
