I will try my best not to make any obvious Uwe Boll jokes, but I can’t promise anything.

Variety has just reported that the studio that brought us the Lord of the Rings trilogy is set to bring Marcus Fenix’s tale to the silver screen.

With the recent announcement of a God of War script being complete, apparently movies based on blockbuster video games are the hot new thing in Hollywood these days. But the question is, have these L.A. studios even seen most of these video game movies? They aren’t exactly masterpieces.

Whether this Gears of War project will even come out is also a question. Heck, even the greatly anticipated Halo movie mysteriously disappeared (supposedly due to budget issues). If uber popular Halo can’t make the rocky transition from console to multiplex, I don’t know what can.

Regardless of the turnout, somewhere in California Uwe Boll just got tight in the pants. If I listen hard enough, I think I can hear him banging on New Line’s door right now.

Sorry, I couldn’t resist.
