MW3 and Warzone Season 6: Release date and upcoming new features

The last hurrah.

The end of Modern Warfare 3 gradually approaches with its triumphant Season 6 launch. It’ll be the last time we see any new major content as Black Ops 6 takes over. So, if you’re ready to go on one last ride, here’s what you need to know about MW3 and Warzone Season 6, including a release date and new features.

When does MW3 and Warzone Season 6 come out?

Based on the Call of Duty Blog, Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone Season 6 begins on Sept. 18, 2024, at 9 a.m. PT/1 p.m. CT/2 p.m. ET. Even though it marks the conclusion of MW3, Warzone will continue with its upcoming new map in BO6.

The patch size shouldn’t be as substantial as the Season 5.5 file, which previously required immense space for the Black Ops 6 beta. Since the early access period has already wrapped up, there’s no need to worry about your storage. At the least, you can save around 25 GB on your device to prepare for the Season 6 launch.

All new features in MW3 and Warzone Season 6

Like every Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone seasonal update, Season 6 brings new weapons, Aftermarket Parts, Weekly Challenges, Operators skins, and more. Both modes will also commemorate the return of The Haunting event, Call of Duty’s traditional Halloween celebration.

Progress through Season 6 to earn the new guns: DTIR 30-06 and Kastove LSW. While the former is a long-range battle rifle, the latter brings a light machine gun that excels in rapid-fire rates and Tac Stance accuracy. Test them out with the latest Operators, including Michael Myers, Daryl Dixon, and Art the Clown. Expect more horror-themed bundles on launch, allowing you to celebrate the Halloween season early.

Upon the arrival of the Haunting event, we’ll experience the horrors of two frightful maps: Drive Thru and Mad Cow. Drive Thru takes you to a killer clown-themed restaurant with plenty of unique POIs. One, in particular, is the working carousel that can be used to scope the area out. Unlike Mad Cow, it’s a brand-new Core 6v6 map introduced to Call of Duty, with a small-sized layout.

If you’re an avid Modern Warfare 3 player, you’ll undoubtedly recognize Mad Cow. The map functions as a Meat variant but with a spooky twist. Everything turns into darkness here, so watch your back for those surprise attacks.

Shipment will offer five new variants to try out, just in time for launch. You can anticipate the following new versions:

  • Ghost Ship – A ritual site that’s surrounded by fog.
  • Arena Shipment – Weapons training course
  • Sunny Shipment – Changes the map to a sunny day.
  • Bit-ment – Retro-styled location that displays like the Bit Party game mode.
  • Stay High – Similar to the Get Higher’s map.

Explore these maps and participate in game modes like Hordepoint, Arcade, Mutation, and Infected. Call of Duty: WWII first introduced Hordepoint, where players must capture and defend the Hardpoint against the undead. Arcade also returns for Season 6, providing special abilities for your Operator. The last two modes have been in the game fairly recently, as you change into a unique form to attack the opposing side.

Although the MW3 Zombies storyline has concluded, you can take advantage of the free Rift Runs and double Schematic Recovery. With this, Operators don’t have to worry about completing side quests to unlock Rifts or waiting around for the Schematic durations.

Warzone Season 6 content

Similar to Modern Warfare 3, Warzone Season 6 showcases new maps: the Hellspawn variant and Vondel Night. Hellspawn changes Rebirth Island’s look by adding some gore and a mysterious mist. While here, participate in the limited-time mode, Purgatory, to take down squads and unlock infinite respawns.

Then, the Vondel Night map gets taken over by the moon’s light, darkening most areas in shadows. Both locations feature Zombie Royale, a standard mode of the Haunting event. You’ll need to eliminate, you guessed it, zombies and utilize various abilities such as better vision, robust melee attacks, and enhanced jumps.

Changes to COD HQ

Besides game modes and maps, the Call of Duty Blog confirms a new user interface in mid-October, likely introduced during Season 6 Reloaded. This upcoming system aims to organize files more efficiently, making it easier to play various modes.

Black Ops 6 beta content will also be removed once MW3 and Warzone Season 6 starts. If you earned any rewards from it, don’t worry; they’ll transfer over to BO6.
