While series creator Ed Boon had coyly stated they wouldn’t be showing an Omni-Man gameplay trailer at New York Comic-Con, that didn’t stop them from dropping the trailer online.

The trailer reveals Omni-Man, voiced by J.K. Simmons, confronting Liu Kang. Liu threatens Omni-Man to kick things off, promising that while Omni-Man has destroyed worlds, he has erased whole timelines.

That doesn’t seem to phase Omni-Man, though, who gladly spends the trailer beating the absolute snot out of Liu Kang and Scorpion.

Omni-Man’s release coincides with the return of Invincible to Amazon Prime Video, as well as the 20th anniversary of the Invincible comic. In the original story, Omni-Man is presented as a Superman pastiche whose son develops superpowers, taking the name Invincible. However, Omni-Man reveals he is actually on Earth to conquer it and hopes to do so with his son at his side.

There are, in fact, multiple nods to the comic included, especially his two fatalities, which reference him holding Invincible up to an oncoming train and Omni-Man’s crushing of Red Rush’s skull when he murdered Invincible‘s version of the Justice League.

In addition to Omni-Man, the trailer reveals the first DLC Kameo, Tremor. Originally debuting in the spin-off title Mortal Kombat: Special Forces, Tremor is now best known for his incredible redesign in Mortal Kombat X.

Omni-Man is slated for a November 2023 release. Future Mortal Kombat 1 DLC for the game includes The Boys‘ Homelander, Peacemaker, Quan-Chi, Ermac, and Takeda. Mortal Kombat 1 is available right now. We gave it an 8/10, so it’s pretty safe to say you should check it out.
