This upcoming Friday, August 10th, MLG will be hosting a Summer Fighting Arena featuring both Mortal Kombat and SoulCalibur V. The fun begins at 4:00pm Eastern and goes until midnight. I know people will moan and groan because of Mortal Kombat, though I have no real idea as to why. It has some of the smartest gameplay features and the characters that end up doing well in tournaments change relatively consistently.

I’m not as well-versed in SCV as I am in other fighting games, but that hasn’t made it any less entertaining to watch. It’s pretty easy to grasp the basic concepts and the announcers have always done a good job at conveying the important information.

There will be two streams: the gameplay stream and the flavor explosion Dr. Pepper stream. Standard definition for both streams will be free and you can upgrade to an HD viewing experience for five dollars.

Players:

Mortal Kombat: DJT1993, Perfect Legend,Tyrant, PigoftheHut, GCA16bit, GGA Dizzy, vVv Reo, and Riu48

Soul Calibur V: Keev_,  Kayane, LostProvidence, rtd_atl, Something-Unique, _Hawkeye, Linkrkc, and Kinetic_Clash

Disclosure: I've personally backed Double Fine Adventure, Wasteland 2, Dead State, SPORTSFRIENDS, Torment: Tides of Numera, STRAFE, and The Binding of Isaac: Four Souls. I have previously written for AbleGamers.com and continue to support them whenever possible (like HumbleBundle).
