Watching livestreams of video games is something I’ve never been able to get into, but perhaps it’s time I start trying to learn how to enjoy them. Last night during a Japanese stream of Pokkén Tournament, Mewtwo was unveiled as a fighter in the upcoming Bandai Namco game.

With crystals bulging from his body, this form of Mewtwo is unlike any we’ve seen before.

According to folks over at NeoGAF, the character is called “Dark Mewtwo” which doesn’t seem too unlikely given Nintendo’s repertoire of “dark” characters. Only time will tell if this form will become part of Pokémon proper.

An official reveal and trailer is probably right around the corner, but until then enjoy the video above captured from the livestream. Pokkén Tournament is scheduled to launch on the Wii U next year.
