Helldivers 2 already has a number of Stratagems to help players turn the tide of battle, from orbital lasers to railguns. One player, however, has unintentionally come up with their own Stratagem that makes use of enemy ragdoll physics.
As spotted by TheGamer, Reddit user WolfBrinkTV shared a clip on the Helldivers 2 subreddit to demonstrate their patented ‘Charger Stratagem.’ During what looks like a particularly intense battle against the Terminids, WolfBrinkTV is trying to fend off a Bile Titan when a Charger suddenly comes running at them. Both enemy types are especially dangerous, but WolfBrinkTV decides to take out the Charger first. They manage to kill it with a single blast, only for its corpse to fly into the Bile Titan and kill it too.
It all happens quite quickly, but it looks like the Charger’s corpse somehow ricocheted into the Bile Titan thanks to its ragdoll physics. The odds of such a feat must be incredibly low, so it’s no wonder you can hear another player (WolfBrinkTV says it’s a friend of theirs) in the background popping off at how amazing it was. It also seems to confirm that players can use enemy corpses to take out other enemies by flinging them like projectiles. While that is incredibly funny, I can’t imagine such a strategy will be reliable.
For starters, this instance was only possible thanks to the Charger running right past the Bile Titan and being close enough for the two to crash into each other. Plus, it required the Charger’s corpse to fling in the Bile Titan’s direction, which might have been caused by the angle of WolfBrinkTV’s shot. Helldivers 2‘s chaotic action means players don’t exactly have the time to line up perfect angles so enemies they kill will take out even more of them.
Still, even if this can never be replicated, it’s a fun clip regardless and it’s nice to see players getting back to bonding over moments like this after a stressful few days. There was a lot of negativity within the community thanks to Sony’s decision to enforce mandatory PlayStation accounts, which would’ve led to Helldivers 2 being unplayable in a number of countries. This led to a sudden spike in negative Steam reviews and refunds, but Sony soon backpedaled on the decision, meaning players can continue to fight for democracy as normal. As WolfBrinkTV puts it, “After all the tense stuff in the community lately, I’m glad I could share something to bring us back to what it’s all about! Dopamine rush for me for sure. Thanks everyone!!”
