Luc Bernard is back, and he’s brought friends

Luc Bernard is awesome. Sure, we gave his game a review so scathing it sparked a war between the creator and our entire community, but I think every industry needs a Luc. Now he’s back, putting his departure from games creation firmly in the past to reveal a WiiWare/iPhone company currently being set up by himself and a friend.

Older and (maybe a little) wiser, the self-proclaimed Leader of Pugs has not revealed the name of his new venture, but he has confirmed that several games are being worked on. The first title is an unnamed turn-based strategy, which is being worked on in conjuction with a former Electronic Arts programmer. It is said to be somewhat like Advance Wars, but with some sort of “environmental” difference.

The second game in the works is a “Metroidvania“-style game called Rose Princess. Luc describes this one as being like “Looney Tunes on crack.” To me, that conjures up an image of a haggard Daffy Duck, heating up a spoon and shivering before weeping among a huddled pile of feathers and sick, but that’s probably not how the game plays.

The titles are planned to hit the iPhone, WiiWare and Steam. Luc has confirmed to me that he actually has a design document now, something he believes will help these future titles.
