Legendary game composer Yuzo Koshiro to attend MAGFest

As if I needed any more reasons to go to MAGFest!

We already knew that Kinuyo Yamashita, composer of the original Castlevania as well as Mega Man X3, will be in attendance, but now it’s been announced that Yuzo Koshiro will appear as well. Even if you don’t know Koshiro by name, you are definitely familiar with his work. He’s one of the pioneers of FM synth, the sound boards available in many old gaming computers and most notably the Sega Genesis. His list of soundtrack credits is vast: Streets of Rage, The Revenge of Shinobi, Ys, ActRaiser, Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin, Shenmue, Beyond Oasis, Culdcept, and many more.

His work has also directly influenced the chiptune community. To that end, Koshiro will have a full DJ set of his music during the Q&A panel, definitely something you shouldn’t miss if you love good game jams. In fact, enjoy the entire Streets of Rage soundtrack after the jump as an appetizer!

If you haven’t yet signed up for MAGFest, held at the Gaylord National Hotel in Maryland from January 3-6, what are you waiting for?
