As a former Australian resident, one thing I don’t miss there was the lack of an R18+ rating for videogames; despite the fact that the R18+ rating has now been introduced, there have still been cuts to games like South Park: The Stick of Truth and Saints Row IV. At least now all my Aussie pals can enjoy Left 4 Dead 2 on PC in all its uncut glory.

Yep, Valve’s co-op zombie game which was released back at the end of 2009 has been resubmitted by Valve and the Australian Classification Board has upped the rating to an R18+. This is just for the PC version, so if you had Left 4 Dead 2 on the console, you’re out of luck there. Doug Lombardi of Valve did confirm to Kotaku Australia that they would deliver the uncut version to existing customers, presumably via a patch.

I’m no gore hound but the censored version of Left 4 Dead 2 was a mess; when the demo launched, a bunch of friends and I all eagerly tried it out and were so disappointed in how it played. The melee weapons felt like you were hitting the zombies with foam pads and the gunshots had no weight to them; all the zombies just faded away once they were killed so it made conserving ammo a nightmare.
