The Rise of the Tomb Raider section of Microsoft’s gamescom press conference was filled with knives to the back and arrows to the head. Given the large stage, it’s obvious why Crystal Dynamics showed a violent slice of gameplay. Still, it had some wondering if things needed to be that violent.

Turns out, it didn’t. The developer released a new video today that tackled the exact same area of the game but completely confrontation-free. Stealth is apparently a viable option sometimes in Rise of the Tomb Raider.

It doesn’t seem like you’ll be able to make your way through the entirety of Lara’s next adventure without a bit of murder, though. In the demo I played at gamescom, there was a gunfight section that appeared unavoidable. It was rough on Lara, but even rougher on the guys that ended up with a bullet between their eyes.
