Polygon-headed Sony CEO Kaz Hirai has stepped down from his role as Sony Computer Entertainment chairman and representative director, leaving the business of games behind to focus more on his company’s TV, music, and phone interests.

He’ll still be on the SCE board of directors, but both he and former CEO Howard Stringer are leaving active involvement. No word yet on who will replace him, though a group of new executives, including SCE Japan president Hiroshi Kawano, have been drafted to the board.

I will miss you, Kaz. You looked like a PlayStation One character model. I loved you for that.
