Hot damn, Katana Zero.

I’m only now hearing about the snappy neo-noir action-platformer from Aski (Tower of Heaven, Pause Ahead) despite an apparent showing at PAX Prime in September. Whoops! This more recent teaser made its way to our tips line today, and I am glad that it did.

It looks super cool when played expertly — you’re a bullet-deflecting assassin, so it should! — and I’m anticipating the challenge of getting to that point, skill-wise. “Late 2016,” here we come.

With so many games trying to be so many things, it’s refreshing to hear what Katana Zero isn’t doing: “No procedural generation. No backtracking. No metroidvania gimmicks or item collection. Every level is a unique and lovingly designed challenge to overcome.”
