June’s free PlayStation Plus games are actually really good

Sonic Mania and Borderlands: The Handsome Collection

Sony’s on a two-month streak. After serving up the delightfully manic Overcooked and the delightfully macabre What Remains of Edith Finch in May, Sony has another pair of winners plated for next month.

In June, PlayStation Plus subscribers can look forward to Sonic Mania and Borderlands: The Handsome Collection. The former is the best Sonic game in years. It’s the rare Sonic title that captures what made those Genesis games so beloved. It’s a gem.

As for Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, this is clearly an opportunity for a tune-up before Borderlands 3 launches in September. Get the gang together, do some shootin’, do some lootin’ — you know the drill. Also, The Handsome Collection is made up of Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel; that means you’re technically getting three games in June. Bonus game!
