Is Tomb Raider going multiplayer?

There’s no doubt about it, multiplayer is the gaming industry’s favoritist thing ever. If a game doesn’t have multiplayer in it these days, it almost seems incomplete. For the non-multiplayer gamer such as myself this is a terrible and scary trend that threatens my very gaming existence, but for most the offer a multiplayer in a game is an added benefit.

Thus, the news that Crystal Dynamics is looking for employees well versed in multiplayer game design for the possible newly revamped Tomb Raider game shouldn’t be such a surprise. The company behind the previous (and sadly unfinished) revamp of the franchise is looking for a new lead designer who “demonstrates advanced knowledge of current multiplayer design (systems, ability and technical interface),” and has the “ability to design multiplayer maps from written map designs” while also be able “to work closely and communicate effectively with artists to implement overall vision of those maps.”

The company had been previously looking to hire multiplayer experienced designers back in March of 2009 F**k Yea, Lara Croft says, so this is probably in line with what the rumored revamp has always been intending. With little to no confirmed information on how the new Tomb Raider is going to play, it’s hard to say how multiplayer will work, but if it is anything like the previous games the words tacked and on come to mind.
