Fans of the original Final Fantasy 7 surely remember gaining access to the buggy. It was the first form of long-distance travel on the World Map outside of Chocobos, and was definitely a nice convenience. Even though Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has a lot of similarities with the original, there are also some differences. So you may be wondering: Is the desert buggy car in FF7 Rebirth? Here’s what we’ve found.
Can you get the buggy in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth?
Yes, the desert buggy car is in fact in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Even though it works a little differently than it did in the original, the buggy still helps you traverse the Corel Region. While both the Grasslands Region and Junon Region have you capture a Chocobo via Chocobo Intel, that is not the case in the Corel Region.
Even though you can still call the standard Chocobo in the Corel Region, your primary mode of travel will be the buggy once you unlock it through the story. It’s not possible to miss acquiring the buggy as long as you progress to Chapter 9.
How to get the buggy in FF7 Rebirth
You automatically unlock the desert buggy car at the beginning of Chapter 9 in FF7 Rebirth. All you have to do is keep progressing your Main Scenario and you will receive access to the buggy after finishing the Corel Prison segment.Once you have access to the buggy, you can call it at any time in the Corel Region by hitting down on the D-Pad. The buggy has some awesome self-driving technology and will pull up next to you just like calling a Chocobo causes it to magically appear beside you.
Once you’ve called in the buggy, you can hit Triangle to enter it, or R1 to exit it. You can accelerate with R2 or reverse with L2. A nice little bonus with the buggy is if you drive over materials, it will automatically pick them up. No more spamming Triangle!
It’s important to note, however, that the buggy is only useable in the Corel Region. You will not be able to call your buggy in any previous or future regions, unfortunately.
