A Tekken 8 Nintendo Switch port would be wonderful for fighting game fans. They can take their matches on-the-go on the train, at the local bar, or while waiting for the doctor. With graphics so mighty on the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, however, is the Nintendo Switch capable of running the game? Here’s what we know about a Tekken 8 Nintendo Switch port.
Can you play a Tekken 8 Nintendo Switch version?
As of the time of writing, a Tekken 8 Nintendo Switch port isn’t planned by Bandai Namco. The game will be released on the PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC on January 25.
Unfortunately, there hasn’t been a Tekken on Nintendo systems since Tekken Tag Tournament 2 on the Wii U. Tekken 7 has not made the jump to Nintendo Switch either. It’s unlikely that we’ll see the game come to Switch, as the gorgeous graphics for Tekken 8 are built for modern platforms. Also, streaming the game would lead to input lag and not a pleasant experience. Fighting games require precision.
Other fighting games on Switch
Despite the technical hurdles, there are some great fighting games on Switch. The closest experience you’ll get to Tekken 8 on Switch is Pokken Tournament DX. From the developer Bandai Namco itself, you play as popular Pokémon characters battling it out in an arena. Pokken Tournament DX looks wonderful with its bright visuals, and each combo is satisfying to pull off.
If you’re willing to delve into a 2D fighter, Dragon Ball FighterZ is another stellar title. The graphics look just like the stunning anime, and the action is blazingly fast. You’re switching between the Dragon Ball characters in a 3v3 battle, trying to keep up with your competition. It’s electrifying to play.
