Are Xbox Game Pass subscribers running around at the speed of sound?

Sonic Superstars on Xbox Game Pass

A Sonic Superstars Xbox Game Pass debut would be marvelous for Xbox and 2D platformer fans around the world. We’ve seen other Sega games like the Yakuza series on the subscription service. Sonic games don’t typically show up on it, however. Here’s what we know about a Sonic Superstars Xbox Game Pass appearance.

Can you play Sonic Superstars on Xbox Game Pass?

Unfortunately, as of the time of writing, Sonic Superstars won’t be on Xbox’s subscription service. Despite the publisher Sega supporting the library with its more mature content like Persona 5 Royal and the Yakuza series, the blue hedgehog isn’t on Xbox Game Pass yet.

It would have made a lot of sense for Xbox to buy the rights to put the game on the service as it would be a good counter to Super Mario Bros. Wonder on the Nintendo Switch. Alas, that won’t be the case. There are other platformers on Xbox Game Pass you should check out though.

Best platformers on Game Pass right now

Although Xbox doesn’t have as much of a rich history as Nintendo or even PlayStation when it comes to platformers, Xbox Game Pass does have a decent range of titles to play. They include:

  • A Short Hike
  • Banjo-Kazooie
  • Celeste
  • New Super Lucky’s Tale
  • Ori & The Blind Forest
  • Ori & The Will of the Wisps
  • Psychonauts
  • Psychonauts 2
  • Unravel
  • Unravel 2

They may not be as fast as the blue blur, but these platformers should satisfy you until Sonic Superstars goes on sale or save up the money to get the full game. The Ori series is especially beautiful with its graphical art style and storytelling.
