After weeks of talk, inXile Entertainment has finally set up a Kickstarter for Wasteland 2. The so-called “Godfather of post apocalyptic RPGs” is set to return, with a little help from the community.
The plan is for respected producer Brian Fargo and his team to get $900,000 in just over a month. At the time of writing, inXile has 549 pledges worth $40,915. Movement seems to be pretty quick, so expect that figure to be hopelessly out of date once you’re reading this.
If you pledge over $15, you’ll get a digital copy of the game, while $50 nets you a big boxed copy with an “old school” instruction book, soundtrack, art book and novella. There’s a ton of other rewards, but the grandest of them all costs $10,000. For that, you get all prior rewards, an invite to a private party, and a shrine within Wasteland 2‘s world, dedicated to you.
This is the first big-name Kickstarter game project following Double Fine’s success. It’ll be interesting to see if Fargo and the others can duplicate Schafer’s success. Here’s hoping!
